We welcomed 3 new friends into our pirate crew today!
This student was finding the mass of a large rock so he had to add up lots of gram weights to find the total! I really liked the way he systematically lined the weights up to make sure his addition was accurate...great thinking:)
We read the beginning and rising action parts of this Pirate Noah this morning. Then the students used their "word & picture smarts" to create their own climax and resolution to this story. We will be sharing their stories next week and then reading the end of this book. We will then compare & contrast their alternate endings to the real ending.
This was where we stopped reading and started writing...
Students got to explore rocks and shells using 3 Science tools...pan balances, rulers, and hand lenses.

We continued with our chess lessons this week and we were thrilled to welcome Mr. Husein to our classroom. Mr. Husein is a volunteer from Landstar who donates his time to helping teach chess to our class each week. He is very knowledge about chess and is also quite a comedian!
Thank you Sawyer for donating this fun strategic game of "Battle Sheep" to our classroom. I really enjoyed playing with ya'll even though I didn't win...watch out next time since I learned from my mistakes today!
Sawyer told me Ms. Pedersen made him play Battle Sheep and I asked if that was instead of him playing on the computer and he said, "Yes!" So, thank you, Ms. Pedersen!!
