Reader's Theater - Anansi and the Magic Stick
Students volunteered for parts to read in our first Reader's Theater this year. We will continue to practice until they feel comfortable performing in front of another class!
I usually save our Chess Lessons until 3rd grade, but this 1st grade group was eager to learn. So we started with the basics today. Chesskid.com offers some great tutorials and practice games that the kids loved!
Enjoying some silent reading time to cool down after recess.
We conducted our first Science experiment called Drops on a Penny. Rylee was able to fit 37 drops on her penny WOW! Next week we will extend this experiment by trying nickels, dimes, and quarters.

Students carefully recorded their results in their journals.
Rylee came home talking about the penny and eye dropper experiment. She really enjoyed it!
