5th Grade Field Trip to Sally Robotics and the Main Library

What a beautiful day for our field trip!
First we took a ride on the Jacksonville Skyway to Hemming Plaza.

Then we ventured into the teen department of the Main Library where the librarians showed us their extensive graphic novel collection aka cool comic books. They also shared several other fun resources kids can access through the teen department.
"I can't wait to come back here this weekend!" - Colton.

Next, we headed upstairs to the children's department where students learned about the vast online research resources the  library offers. These research tools will be very useful in middle school!

Our last stop was Sally Robotics. Andrew was our Scooby Doo game champion!
Our tour guide lead us through each department of Sally Corp. She explained that their projects all start out in the graphic design office, then they go through the clay molding process, and finally end up on the production floor where engineers and artists add sound, movement, paint, and costumes to to bring the robots to life!
You can purchase this T-Rex for your backyard for a price tag of $90,000 or you can see him at Six Flags.
 Who is the real Zombie????
All of our Chets Creek pirates had a funtastic learning experience today! I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching this group of wonderful students for the past 3 years. I was feeling a little sad knowing that my adventures with them is coming to an end as they sail off to middle school next year, but I am grateful that I got to have one last advenure with them.
"This was the best field trip ever!" - Jaxson
