K-1 sweet symmetry

We welcomed 2 new friends to our gifted class today!

During our classroom meeting students take turns sharing anything they want to about their lives. This meeting helps students gain self-confidence in their public speaking skills, and it helps them practice self-control when they have to wait their turn to share.
Here are a few things students chose to share today...
I am excited for the upcoming 1st Grade Sleep Over! - Sohan
My birthday is coming up in 14 days and is on the same day as the 1st Grade Sleep Over!- Daniel
I got a new cat named Cali! - Sophi

Valentine's Day Cards
We learned about symmetry and created symmetrical Valentine's Day cards

Black History Month - We researched the Civil Rights Activist Ruby Bridges using Encyclopedia Britannica Online. We also watched a video clip where she met with President Barack Obama as they discussed the famous Norman Rockwell Painting depicting her first day of school.
Elle remembered what Ruby Bridges said was her most important lesson..."You should never judge someone by the color of their skin"
