K-1 is Growing!

Welcome to our 6 new classmates!
Our class has tripled in size since the beginning of the year! We reviewed our rituals & routines and our veteran students did a great job helping out our new friends feel comfortable.
We continued working on our Sound Unit by learning about the loud sounds on jets and helicopters!
Thank you to Mr. Schmidt (aka Teagan's Dad) for volunteering today! He took the time off of work to speak to our class about his job as an electrician in the US Coast Guard. He works on a helicopter so the kids were very excited to ask him questions about his adventurous job. Thank you for serving and protecting our country! Thank you Mrs. Schmidt for recruiting your husband to volunteer in our classroom:)

Mr. Schmidt brought in a tool called a decibel meter.
"This machine measures how loud sounds are" - Moorea
Mr. Schmidt also talked about how he needs to protect his ears from the loud sounds on the helicopter.

7 Habits of Happy Kids-
Today we read A Place for Everything and the students drew a map of how to best organize their room. They are brining home their maps today so please encourage them to organize their room!
Syna drew a very detailed and organized map of her room.
Think Fun!-
During this independent choice time many students chose to create a marble run and construct things out of Legos.
